This was the second occasion Dr Farquhar administered local anasthetics prior to eye surgery. On both occasions he came to the ward before surgery and explained clearly the procedures and risks involved. He listened to my concerns and answered questions clearly. His manner was calm, relaxing and completely professional. I felt totally at ease trusting his skill and experience. The admiinistration of injections was quite painless and on both occasion I went into theatre relaxed and felt no discomfort during surgery. The entire team, Mr Orr consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Dr Farquhar, the nursing, theatre and auxilliary staff were all excellent.

I found Dr Iain Farquhar to be very friendly and aproachable. He explained everything in simple terms, without being condascending. I have to say, I have never received this level of care from all the members of staff at Nottingham QMC within the NHS before. I can not express how happy I was with the service received.

I would completely recommend this hospital. The care I received from the receptionist to the doctors and after care team was amazing. Dr Farquhar kept me completely at ease throughout my operation, after needing a spinal anaesthetic which to be honest had freaked me out a little when he told me his intention. I would certainly opt for a spinal in the future if the need arises. Dr Farquhar and his team of anaesthetists were brilliant. Thank you.
